The Tri-Pak Watermelon Weighing and Classifying System is an automated weight-based sorting machine that classifies and distributes watermelons to designated packing stations based on individual melon weight. Using an integrated electronic load cell scale and ejector cleat conveying system, the machine automatically sorts each melon into one of up to eight packing stations according to user-defined weight categories.

The system uses ejector cleats on a twin-strand conveying chain to redirect individual watermelons from the main conveyor lane to the correct packing station as determined by the load cell scale reading.

At the core of the E-50 is a high-efficiency 3-phase 50 horsepower motor that drives the impeller assembly, enabling throughput of up to 5 tons of ice per hour when supplied with a consistent feed of cubed ice. The electric drive system delivers consistent torque and steady processing performance, making it well suited for applications requiring uniform flake size and predictable output rates.

Air-operated kicker cylinders at each station trigger when the upstream scale signals that the passing melon matches the assigned weight range. A computer with touch screen allows operators to configure weight ranges for large, medium, and small sizes and set count targets for each category independently.

The complete system is approximately 50 feet in overall length and includes a 40-foot integrated packing bin — 36" wide — with a rubber bumper front panel to protect melons at each packing station. A heavy-duty full-length support skid provides structural stability. The system ships fully pre-wired with electronic controls, motor controls, and a fixed speed 230/460V single or three phase motor with electrical disconnect and safety guards.

The Tri-Pak Watermelon Classifying System eliminates manual sorting labor, improves size consistency across packing stations, and provides count and weight data to support packing house record-keeping and traceability requirements in high-volume watermelon packing operations.
